Summer Program

The North MS Get2College Center will be hosting several summer programs designed to give students a better sense of what to expect from the college admissions timeline, financial aid process and much more.

These fun, interactive programs include

  • Breakfast and lunch each day
  • In-depth discussions of the college timeline
  • College essay and resume activities
  • ACT prep
  • Financial aid and scholarship information
  • College campus tours (tours will be for Rising Junior/Senior Boot-Camp only)

Requirements for HELP GRANT

 

IF YOU MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS and have not filled out FAFSA and your MS Financial AID (www.riseupms.com) you need to do so ASAP or you can not receive this GRANT! 


 
Requirements for the HELP Grant:
  • Be a legal resident of the State of Mississippi
  • Be within one year of high school graduation (current college freshman)
  • Have scored a minimum of a 20 on the National ACT
  • Have a minimum of a 2.50 cumulative college grade point average
  • Have completed a specific high school core curriculum.
  • Attend an approved postsecondary institution in Mississippi
  • Meet income limitations
  • Demonstrate need by completing the FAFSA

Award:
  • Tuition and required fees at a public institution
  • Participants attending a private institution will receive an award amount equal to the award of a student attending the nearest comparable public institution.
  • Max 8 semesters (12 trimesters) or bachelor’s degree completion, whichever comes first

Chick Fil A Scholarship Opportunity!

Chick-fil-A Southaven is having a friendly challenge amongst the high school 2017 seniors in Desoto County that are in Chick-fil-A Southaven’s territory.  Senior Class Student Council can submit a 10 minute video (via youtube) that   demonstrates their senior class’s leadership, community involvement and school spirit.  We will choose one winning video by April 21 and that senior class will receive FREE chicken sandwiches for either a senior event or during their lunch at school.

Above schools that can participate are DCHS, HHS, HLHS, LCHS, SHS, and Northpoint Academy.  Mentioned schools are eligible to enter a video which demonstrates their senior classes leadership, community involvement, and school spirit.

  • All videos MUST be no more than 10 minutes long,

  • All videos MUST contain several students/organizations of the senior class, not just one particular group.

  • All videos need to demonstrate Chick-fil-A Core Essentials:
  1. Treat others right
  2. Make smart decisions 
  3. Maximize your potential.

  • All videos MUST be submitted by April 15, 2017 to qualify for the grand prize.

Memphis College of Art

2017 Weekend Workshop -- March 25 from 9 am to 1:30 pm


Weekend Workshops give students, art teachers and parents a glimpse into MCA’s art college experience. Each day features workshops for students, dorm tours, portfolio reviews, parent Q&A sessions, and financial aid sessions for students who have already been accepted to the college. The events are free for high school seniors and transfer students applying to MCA, art teachers and parents. Other individuals who’d like to attend will be charged a $25 fee to cover the cost of supplies and food. Seniors who are applying the day of the weekend workshop can bring a high school transcript, ACT or SAT score (if you have taken one of these two tests) and their portfolio to have the $25 fee waived. Summer Academy 2017 

 This program provides a studio experience for the highly motivated high school art student with an intent to study art at the college level. The program will cover both Fine Arts and Design Arts curriculum with hands-on study. An emphasis will be placed on visual art career options and professional practices (P2). This is a two week program in which the student can reside in the dormitory or commute. Participants will earn two college credit hours. Apply today here!
