Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program

Priority deadline for the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program (METP) is January 5. 

 

Applications will be accepted past this date, but priority will be given to those who apply by January 5.

METP benefits include:

• Full scholarship including tuition, books and fees for up to four years
• Annual housing allowance
• Annual campus meal plan
• $1000 technology stipend
• $6000 study abroad experience
• Funding to attend national teaching conferences
• Cross campus learning experiences with our partners at Mississippi State

James B. Collins Memorial Scholarship

Requirements

·   Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the final half of his/her school year, or a high school graduate within six months of the application deadline. 

·   Applicant must aspire to attend an institution of higher learning.

·   Applicant must have a financial need.

·   Applicant must have an academic grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

·   Applicant must have provided service to his/her community.

·   Application must be submitted on the current JBCMF Scholarship Form. Incomplete applications or submissions that do not follow the submission criteria will not be processed or considered for evaluation.

·   Applicant must include two letters of recommendation from: (1) high school principal, academic dean, or guidance counselor and (2) a high school teacher.

·   Applicant must include documentation of grade point average, SAT and/or ACT scores.

·   Applicant may attach any documentation of leadership honors and/or community service recognition.

·   Applicant may attach documentation evidencing any advanced placement or college level courses.

 

Deadline

JBCMF must receive applications in its Post Office Box no later than January 30, 2016 to be considered by the selection panel. No exceptions to this deadline will be allowed. Any incomplete applications or applications received after this date will not be considered for selection. No applications by fax or e-mail transmission will be accepted.

1. Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships 

20 Students will be awarded $5,000!

 Deadline for submission is December 5, 2015

2. 2015 Scholarship Points Awards

10 Students will be awarded $10,000!

Deadline for submission is December 8, 2015

 

3. Flosum Scholarship

1 Student will be awarded $750!

Deadline for submission is December 15, 2015

4. Solution Reach Scholarships

2 Students will be awarded $2,000!

Deadline for submissoin is December 18, 2015!

 3.2 GPA and college/university acceptance required to apply

 

5. CrossLites Scholarships 

33 Students will be awarded $4,000!

Deadline for submission is December 31, 2015

Submission of an essay is required. 

 

6. 10 Words or Less Scholarship 

1 Student will be awarded $500!

Deadline for submission is January 29, 2016

 

7. You Deserve It Scholarship 

1 Student will be awarded $1,000!

Deadline for submission is February 15, 2016
