Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY
- Senior standing – Plan to graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2016.
- Fall College Enrollment – Intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2016.
- GPA – Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above.
- Test Scores – Receive standardized test scores in the top 15%: SAT combined critical reading and math score of 1200 or above and/or ACT composite score of 26 or above.
- Income – Demonstrate significant unmet financial need. We will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000. However, we anticipate that a majority of scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive a Pell grant.

IMPORTANT DATES:
1. Applicants seeking undergraduate School of Music talent-based/performance scholarships for Fall 2016 should apply to the School of Music by December 1, audition by the end of February, and be accepted by the University BEFORE their audition.
2. Applicants who are seeking undergraduate academic awards and who are fully admitted to the University of Memphis by December 1, 2015, will be given priority scholarship consideration.
3. Applicants seeking graduate assistant ships for Fall 2016 should apply to the School of Music by February 1, audition by the end of February and apply to the University by March 1.

University of Memphis October Update
Campus Tours: The University of Memphis offers campus tours each weekday at 9:30am & 1:30pm. Touring campus is the best way for students to know if a university is right for them! Students can sign up online or by calling (901) 678-2169. Tours of our Lambuth campus in Jackson, TN are available each weekday at 9:30am or by appointment, and reservations can be made by visiting their web site or calling (731) 425-1964.
Lambuth Campus Open House: Our Lambuth Campus in Jackson, TN will be hosting an open house on Saturday, October 31. Students can find more details and make reservations for the event online.
Merit-Based Scholarships: Our admissions deadline for priority scholarship consideration remains December 1st this year, and students may qualify with a minimum ACT score of 25 and GPA of 3.0. To be eligible for our merit-based scholarships, students must have applied and been admitted by the December 1st deadline. For full scholarship details visit the Scholarship web site.
Emerging Leaders and First Scholars Scholarships: These scholarships require separate applications and have a deadline of February 1st. The Emerging Leaders scholarship is awarded to a limited number of students with demonstrated leadership backgrounds and interest in leadership development programs. A comprehensive application and interview is required, and the scholarship award is $5,500 per year. The First Scholars scholarship is awarded to a limited number of first-generation college students whose parents have no education beyond two years of college. A separate application and student’s FAFSA must be completed by February 1, and the scholarship award is $5,000 per year. Students receiving both the Emerging Leaders and First Scholars scholarships are required to live on campus in designated residence halls as freshmen.
U of M Football: Our Memphis Tigers are 4-0 for the first time since 1961! We have a limited number of football tickets for most of the games remaining in the 2015 season. Let me know if you would like to attend a game! A full schedule is available online. Unfortunately, tickets to the Ole Miss game are not available.
